ABOUT JOHN
John Huebner is a 17-year-old high school student who took a gap year after his Junior Year and traveled around the world from June, 2019 to March, 2020. During this trip, he deepened his passion for exploring and researching different cultures of the world and is currently writing a book about his cultural exploration. As a trained opera singer, John performed his World Tour on all 7 continents and in 15 countries during his 9 months abroad.
CULTURE
John visited a total of 43 countries and 120 cities during his trip delving into local cultures, societal structures, religions, traditions, histories and governments. He logged hundreds of local cultural experiences including visiting indigenous people’s villages, embarking upon and leading tours and talking with locals. He is currently writing a book entitled The Cultures and Histories of 15 Lessor Known Countries. John plans to major in Cultural Anthropology with an interest in Ethnomusicology in college.
MUSIC
During his World Tour, John performed on all 7 continents and 15 countries while traveling around the world from June, 2019 to March, 2020. He performed in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Colombia, Egypt, Finland, France, Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar, Peru, Russia, South Korea, Turkey and the United States.
John has performed at prestigious venues including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Australia’s Sydney Opera House, New York’s Lincoln Center, Japan’s Kyoto Concert Hall, Los Angeles’ Disney Concert Hall, Japan’s Blue Rose Suntory Hall, New York’s National Opera Center and South Korea’s MAPO Arts Center.
In both choral and opera concerts, John has performed with the New York Lyric Opera Theatre, the San Francisco Opera, the Vienna Philharmonic at the Salzburg Festival and with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Disney Concert Hall. He is a member of the Scholars’ Division of the prestigious National Children’s Chorus. John has studied Voice under professors at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of South California (USC) and California State Dominguez Hills.
