BIO

Passionate about singing, 17-year-old high school student John Huebner recently completed a personal feat of performing on all seven continents within one year (June 2019-March 2020) starting with a Carnegie Hall solo in June 2019. This goal took him to all the corners of the Earth performing in Australia’s Sydney Opera House, Finland’s Helsinki City Museum and Japan’s Suntory Hall just to name a few (See Performances for full list). This tour was only made possible through John’s many hours of preparation and dedication to the arts, specifically classical voice and opera and the faith his voice teachers had in him. John conceived, marketed and collaborated for this concert series, Opera in Small Bites, with professional pianist NYC-based Saffron Chung.

In the Summer of 2018, John performed in Henze’s The Bassarids with the Vienna Philaharmonic’s teen program as part of the 2018 Salzburg Festival.  He was the only invited American for this prestigious program.  In June 2018, John made his New York debut at 15 with the New York Lyric Opera Theatre as Peter in Hansel and Gretel.   Through a series of invitation-only programs, he has performed in Carnegie Hall, Disney Concert Hall, U.S. National Opera Center, Lincoln Center, Warner Grand Theatre, and Herbst Theatre with the renown San Francisco Opera Summer Conservatory Program.

John is a member of prestigious Scholar’s Division of the National's Children Chorus (NCC), Palos Verdes Children's Chorus, LA Opera's 90012 Program, and Musical Miracles, a Los Angeles multicultural choir. John has sung for the benefit of a number of nonprofit organizations including Torrance Memorial Hospital, Toberman Neighborhood Center, United Church of Bogota, Italian Catholic Federation, amongst others.  One personal highlight was performing with NCC for peace and unification at the 2019 Lindenbaum Peace Festival at the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) with other young performers from the U.S., North and South Korea, a performance broadcasted live on Korean television.

John was selected from over 10,000 nominations for the Honors Performance Series at Sydney Opera House in August 2019 and was invited back for this prestigious program at the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria for Summer 2020.

At Ambassador High School in Torrance, California, John performed leads in Godspell as John the Baptist and Judas and Les Miserables as Javert. The honors student also co-founded and leads the Performing Arts Club and the ComedySportz team, an improvisational comedy team that competes locally. He is also dedicated to his faith serving as an altar server for American Martyrs Church and as a faith group leader at school.  John also served a 2-year term on the U.S. Congressional Youth Advisory Council under U.S. Representative Ted Lieu representing dozens of high schools in the South Bay and beyond.  John will complete his Associates Degree at Los AngelesHarbor College in mid-2021 through an Early College program and has completed college level coursework in cultural anthropology this past year. John has a love of research specifically around world history and cultures.
